Circa 1870 - 1900, American, Eastlake style, likely walnut. This very unique, very large piece was likely used in a bank setting, as the slightly angled counter allows for completing paperwork or counting/dispensing money while standing or seated on a high stool. This piece includes a total of 26 drawers with Knapp joint construction on front and rear, and 2 cabinets, with original shelves. Very cool original wood coin/cash drawer insert and wood paper trays included, as pictured. Top is removable, and held in place by its own weight and/or dowels. This is a beautiful antique piece to be appreciated as is, or would make an excellent home bar, or, with the top removed, a very unique kitchen island if paired with a marble/granite top. Top surface likely refinished at some point in its life; top sides, base and drawers appear to have their original finish.
