Antique Globe Wernicke D.R. Sectional File Cabinet
Early 1900s, American, from the Globe/Globe Wernicke Co., Cincinnati OH. Sectional stacking file cabinet in the 299 style (quarter-sawed figured oak, brass oxidized hardware). A large cabinet of the very rare D.R. Units, originally designed for filing insurance daily reports (D.R.). Eight pieces in total, including 1 base, 5 D.R. sections, 1 sliding shelf section, and 1 top. 16 boxes per section, for a total of 80 boxes. Boxes are made of substantial tarboard with black cloth fronts, and fitted with label holder and ring pull. Interior dimensions of the boxes are 8 7/8"w x 11 5/8"d x 2 3/8" h.
Overall piece is in very good to excellent condition. A small number of the boxes have had the front hinge repaired, which is appropriate for their age. The majority of the boxes are in excellent functional condition. The base is a well executed modern reproduction in both form and function - original bases of this size are very difficult to find in any condition. Overall dimensions below.
