Antique Globe Wernicke Mahogany File Cabinet and Bookcase #574
Early 1900s, American, from the Globe/Globe Wernicke Co., Cincinnati OH. A combination step back file cabinet with barrister bookcase sections, in the 598.5 style (solid mahogany with brushed brass sidebands). 7 pieces in total, starting from the bottom, including one 2 drawer base section, one 3 drawer standard file section, one 9 drawer letter file section with suspending devices, one 12 drawer catalog section, two barrister bookcase sections, and one top. Standard file drawers have tilt out fronts, letter file drawers all suspend downward to allow hands free access to the drawer, and catalog drawers have side cut outs for easy access to contents or use as a desktop paper tray. Cabinet is in good to very good original condition, and includes original pulls, finish, hardware, and some of the original GW record transfer sheets. Barrister glass likely replaced at some point, and some damage to the rear of the base sides with replaced base back panel. Dimensions below for the overall piece.
