Early 1900s, American, from the Globe Wernicke Co., Cincinnati OH. The Ideal series was Globe Wernicke's most expensive, well built, and well appointed barrister bookcases. This rare pair of bookcases are the 598.5 style (solid mahogany, dark rich finish, brush finished brass hardware). 10 sections total, each bookcase a total of 5 sections, including two drawer bases, one 12.25" bookcase, three 10.25" bookcases, two 8.5" double diamond leaded glass bookcases, and two tops. Bookcase dimensions are interior height, all bookcases have interior depth of 9.5". Features include stepback drawer bases, paneled sides, fluted columns, beveled glass, deluxe hardware, acanthus leaves and dentil molding to the top section. Leaded glass fronts are in excellent original condition. In overall very good original condition, including original finish, labels, hardware, and drawer pulls. The shorter bookcase is 2" shorter than the taller bookcase, due to difference in bookcase section sizes.
