Antique Globe Wernicke Pair of Ideal Barrister Bookcases

Early 1900s, American, from the Globe Wernicke Co., Cincinnati OH. The Ideal series was Globe Wernicke's most expensive, well built, and well appointed barrister bookcases. This rare pair of bookcases are the 299 style (quarter sawn oak, rich finish, brass oxidized hardware). 12 sections total, each bookcase a total of 6 sections, including two drawer bases, one 12.25" bookcase, three 10.25" bookcases, four 10.25" locker units with leaded glass doors, and two tops. Bookcase dimensions are interior height, all bookcases have interior depth of 9.5". Features include stepback drawer bases, paneled sides, fluted columns, beveled glass, deluxe hardware, acanthus leaves and dentil molding to the top section. In overall very good to excellent original condition, including original finish, labels, hardware, drawer pulls, and functional locks and two keys for all lockers. The shorter bookcase is 2" shorter than the taller bookcase, due to difference in bookcase section sizes.
