Early 1900s, American, from The Macey Co., Grand Rapids MI. A rare set of twin matching barrister bookcases, in the classic Macey barrister Finish 2 (quartersawn oak, rich finish, brass oxidized side bands), comparable to the Globe Wernicke Grade 299. 14 pieces in total, starting from the bottom, including two bases, ten 11" bookcases, and two tops. Bookcase sections are comparable to the Globe Wernicke C size, and measure 11" interior height and 8.5" deep. Both stacks retain original glass, hardware, finish and matching decals to the maple veneer backs. Side bands can be used to lock the bookcases to each other. Overall in very good condition, with some scratches to the tops, and some alligatoring of the original finish in places.
Any variation in height, fit or spacing in the pictures is due to older, uneven floor.
