Early 1900s, American, by the The Macey Co., Grand Rapids MI. Two separate, but complete, pieces, which can be used separately or combined to form one larger barrister bookcase/secretary desk. Both configurations pictured, all parts pictured included in sale. All pieces are Style 94, quartered golden oak (tiger oak). Secretary desk with lower large bookcase is one piece, bookcase interior measures 14d x 14h, and also includes drawer under drop down desk, and drawer to base, with functional key and lock to desk. Barrister bookcase is 5 pieces, including base with drawer, 12.25" bookcase, 10.25" bookcase, and 8.5" bookcase, with curved top. All barrister bookcase dimensions are interior height, depth for bookcases is 10".
Combined piece pictured is achieved by safely securing stretcher bar to desk top so barrister bookcases are 'locked' in on the top. The combined piece provides a functional writing surface, variety of bookcase sizes and has a commanding presence.
All pieces in very good to excellent original condition, including original claw and ball feet, glass and hardware. Bookcase drawer base front was poorly repaired in the past, but this piece is not used if combining the two. If used, the repair is well concealed to the untrained eye.
