Late 1800s to early 1900s, American, labeled at the top Rough Notes Register and Policy Cabinet. The Rough Notes Co. was an insurance industry magazine started in 1878 and based in Indianapolis IN. The cabinet was possibly made by Amberg Letter & File Co. of NYC, NY. Rare walnut once piece cabinet, with full tambor door. Two sets of drawers to the top (10 narrow, 10 wide), pull out file holder, large drawer running the full width, and large file dividers to bottom. In very good to excellent original condition, including original finish, lettering, lock and key, pulls and label holders. Tambor door intact and completely functional. At some point in the past, the bottom rear was modified/cut to fit over toe/wall trim, not uncommon for commercial pieces used in home offices.
