Late 1800s, American, from The Globe Wernicke Co., Cincinnati OH. A classic stepback barrister bookcase, in the 298 style (solid quarter sawn oak, antique stain/finish, copper oxidized brass hardware). 5 sections total, including E base, one 13.5" E size combination bookcases, two D 10.25" bookcases, and top. Bookcase dimensions are interior height, E size bookcase interior is 12" deep, and D bookcase interiors are 9.5" deep. In overall good to very good original condition, including original finish, labels, hardware, and glass. This is an example of the earliest Globe Wernicke bookcases, with the makers mark stamped to the stretcher boards. This particular bookcase has a great patina, with some ink stains through the step back piece and E bookcase section, and E section glass likely replaced at some point.
